I've decided to dedicate today's post to the one, the only, Gemma Ward. A fashion model I have admired since before I knew what fashion was truly about, I remember scouring my sister's room looking for Ms. Ward's face on the covers of Vogue (in various countries), Vanity Fair, and W. Just a country girl born in Perth, Australia, Gemma was "found" and started runways at the young age of 16. She has been in shows for designers such as Versace, Gucci, Chanel, Valentino, and Alexander McQueen. Although after the death of Heath Ledger--who she reportedly dated for a brief time--and facing ridicule for gaining weight, Gemma has stayed out of the limelight for the past couple of years. However, recently it has been said the she will return to the modeling (and possibly acting) world. For years I have admired her different look; while girls my age fawned over Paris Hilton, the Kardashians, Demi Levato, and the Jonas Brothers, I spent my time pouring over pictures of Gemma, as well as her fellow models Lily Cole and Lily Donaldson. Although teased for my "strange" view on beauty, I will always consider Gemma one of the most beautiful girls to grace the modeling world. And please-don't mix Gemma up with Sasha Pivovarova, although they both bear similar features.
